Let Go of Clutter – Have a Yard Sale
A great way to rid your home of clutter is to have a yard sale. Here are a few tips to having a successful yard sale. First you need a great sign. Think about using a color that will catch the eye of future buyers. Neon colors are great for this. Make sure the information on the sign can be read easily. Especially, from a moving car. Be sure and put all the information on the sign such as address, date and time. Put your sign in a good spot. Also make arrows to help direct traffic to your sale.
Advertising your sale is a must. Put an ad in the classified section of your local newspaper. Mention popular items such as toys, bikes, children’s clothes and electronics to draw serious shoppers. Place fliers around town.
A great yard sale provides room for shoppers to browse, park and overhead protection in case of rain. Carports and garages are a great place to set up. Next set up tables and its great to have a temporary clothesline for clothing. Make sure and group similar items together. Clean up your items.
Place big ticket items and electronics at the front of your sale to attract drive-by shoppers. Tag all items with a specific price. Try to give similar items the same price.
Be prepared to haggle. After all people are looking for a great bargain. Remember, they are paying for your clutter and carrying it away.
At the end of the yard sale, donate anything that did not sell to charity. After all, we are trying to rid your home of clutter for good.
